Response to Video " Seeing the Unseen"

This video had three major sticking points in my head.

A. US is losing economic competitiveness in the status quo. We don't have the appropriate number of scientists or mathematicians. This is a deeply rooted problem that will ultimately undermine our ability to sustain our post cold war role as hegemon. The US economy is in a deepening recession and on the verge of entering another depression. Only our will to innovate and create new technology can pull us out of this otherwise inevitable downturn. Other countries like China have higher GDP's and higher test scores. the Chinese are buying our debt nad running us into an eternal black hole. We are priveledged to be enrolled in such a great school and to be taking classes that may help to ensure the future status of the wold and our ability to defuse conflicts and project power.

B. Evolution---times really have changed. Today people take in more information than ever. We live in the information age. The age of stress and power and distress. People connect via the internet, text messaging, emails, or social networking sites. These forms of technology have made things better but have also created many flaws. Google allowed for people to answer questions that couldnt be answered before. A wealth of information is at our finger tips. Consequently, this has led to less one on one contact with other human beings. WE ARE THE FUTURE. Let's do something productive.

C. the role of young people---we are moving past the age of baby boomers and entering an era with a new productive work force. the work force has the motto work to live not live to work. The video showed that people are constantly switching jobs and dont have the same sense of loyalty to their employer. Young people will shame the future of the country and the world. Our more progressive ideologies will shape the policies and the social order of the future. As a class, a school, a community, country and as global citizens we can shape the world.

All in the all the video was very informative and made a clear set of arguments.

As a side note the music was a little bit weird.

I Look Forward to reading everyone elses posts.

Have a great Night!

Wow, first off, you did a really nice job of summing up the problems.
Yea, the music was a bit interesting; it reminded me a bit of Extreme Ways by Moby. I actually thought the song was pretty good.
